Accolade commits to Biden Cancer Moonshot, making cancer screenings more accessible to American workers

May 08, 2024 | 2 min read

Accolade is proud to announce its participation in the Biden Cancer Moonshot Fact Sheet aimed at improving equitable access and utilization of cancer screenings to save and extend the lives of more Americans.

Last month, the Biden Cancer Moonshot convened a diverse and influential set of employers—representing more than 6.5 million American workers—to discuss how to make cancer screenings more accessible for employees. Accolade has committed to offering our employees enhanced benefits aimed at improving cancer outcomes, including:

  • Virtual Primary Care Visits – Convenient access to advanced primary and mental healthcare with same-day appointments.

  • Expert Second Opinion Services – Video consultations with board-certified specialists to review treatment plans and answer questions so employees feel confident about their care plans.

  • Specialized clinical partnerships – Access to exceptional benefit programs for specialized support across a wide range of categories: mental health (Headspace Health), diabetes management (Virta), musculoskeletal (Sword), fertility (Carrot), pharmacy (Rx Savings Solutions), gastrointestinal (Vivante), and caregiver support (Cariloop).

Additionally, all Accolade full-time employees receive Advocacy services and access to a Care Advocate who can guide them through their healthcare journey.

“We strive to deliver an exceptional healthcare experience for everyone we serve, including our most valuable resource – our people,” said Accolade Chief People Officer Kelsi McDonald Harris. “Our employees’ health is a top priority, and we provide access to the best benefit options available.”

Accolade is committed to providing an equitable healthcare experience for all employees. One specific way that Accolade helps to further health equity in our population is by optimizing healthcare coverage affordability at different income levels. Last year, Accolade adjusted healthcare premiums based on the employee’s compensation rather than a one-size-fits-all approach to provide equitable access to care.

“At Accolade, we believe health equity makes a stronger workforce. We were honored to participate in the Biden Cancer Moonshot expert roundtable and share our best practices to make cancer screenings more accessible for working Americans,” said Accolade Chief Health Officer Dr. Shantanu Nundy.
